Those who are in earnest do not die, those who are thoughtless are as if dead already.
No one saves us but ourselves,
No one can and no one may.
We ourselves must walk the path
Buddhas merely teach the way.
By ourselves is evil done,
By ourselves we pain endure,
By ourselves we cease from wrong,
By ourselves become we pure.
One way to create a peaceful atmosphere is to have a set of traditionally-styled prayer flags.
These flags were originally created in India and then became a part of the religion/cultural system called “Bon” in Tibet.
They are categorized as “Lung Ta” and “Darchor”; horizontal and vertical flags.
These flags are now associated with Buddhism and are meant to promote peace and wisdom. The colors of the flags also represent different elements. They are printed with mantras that are meant to sanctify the area around them as they fade in the sunlight.
The flags should be disposed of by burning when they are faded and should not be worn, nor should they be placed onto the ground.

One essential piece of reading is The Tao Te Ching. Here is an excerpt;
The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and Earth.
The named is the mother of the ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name; this appears as darkness.
Darkness within darkness.
The gate to all mystery.
One way to read the Tao Te Ching is to visit https://ttc.tasuki.org/display:Year:1972,1988,1996,2004/section:1
Another way to read it is to purchase a copy of one of the translations..I recommend the older ones because they are more literal and contain less paraphrasing.

Tao Te Ching: Text Only Edition
Incense has a long & storied history..it is manufactured in the form of sticks, cones, coils and granules of pure resin. Humans have used it for thousands of years to enhance meditation and create a sacred atmosphere.
Incense has been burnt as an offering to Gods in many religions, due to its potent and heady fragrance, as well as the fact that it is made of precious and scarce materials.
These are a few of my favorites!

Super Hit is one of my old standby incenses. It has a powdery sandalwood odor.

HEM incense can be hit-or-miss, but I love their Dragon’s Blood. They offer both the cone and stick variety.
100% Pure Organic Frankincense Resin / Tears – 8oz – High Quality – By Sweet Essentials
If you want to smell pure, organic, 100% resinous incense you need to buy some Frankincense tears. This is the purest form of incense. You will probably want to use charcoal and a burner to light this kind of incense.
